That is exactly what sets this box apart from the sister version with conventional wheeled landing gear, which is a separate item; choose according to whether you want the machine in its catapult form off the water or in the land configuration. The model is made by Kovozavody Prostejov, a Czech brand.
The Curtiss SC-1 Seahawk was a single-seat navy scout aircraft of the end of the Second World War, intended for catapult launch from surface ships. Unlike the older two-seat machines it was designed as a single-seater and with a more powerful engine, so it could also handle secondary combat tasks, spotting for gunfire and rescue flights. The fuselage carried a large central float complemented by stabilizing floats under the wing; the landing gear could be exchanged for a wheeled one for operation from land.
Float aircraft live and die by the alignment of the struts: try dry how the float sits and glue one strut at a time, checking the geometry. Glue the struts with liquid cement with a short setting time, or with gel-consistency cyanoacrylate glue. The model shows off well on a simple base with a water surface made from acrylic gel. Painting: a primer, then spray the naval shades with an airbrush and keep the transitions soft. Spray gloss varnish under the decals and, at the end, unify the surface and add restrained traces of service wear around the steps and the walkways.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
