Star Decals has prepared a sheet with the markings of light SdKfz 250 half-track armored vehicles in the late neu version as they were listed on the Western Front. According to the name the 2.Pz-Div, the 1.SS-LAH, the 9.SS-Hohenstaufen and the 10.SS-Frundsberg are represented.
The SdKfz 250 was a light half-track armored vehicle derived from an artillery tractor and served for signals, reconnaissance and for carrying small groups. The late version, designated neu, had a simplified hull put together from a smaller number of flat plates, which shortened production and at the same time changed the outline of the superstructure. It is precisely by the folds of the sides that the two variants are told apart and it is advisable to watch for this when choosing the markings. The vehicles served with tank as well as grenadier units and their markings tended to be limited to a tactical number and the insignia of the formation.
The riveted and busy areas of a half-track will call for a softener, so that the membrane is drawn down to the shape of the surface. Soak the excess water up with a piece of absorbent paper without shifting the decal and let the joint dry for several hours. Apply the protective varnish in thin coats, so that the drawing is not smudged. Guide the scalpel at right angles to the mat; the edge of the membrane will then not be left frayed.
