A set of resin engine cowlings for the Italian three-engine bomber Savoia-Marchetti SM.79 Sparviero in 1:72 scale from Quickboost. It is not an airplane model but a set of precisely cast detail parts with corrected shape, which replace the cowlings from the base kit with more faithful geometry and a finer surface.
The SM.79 Sparviero was one of the best-known Italian aircraft of the Second World War, easily recognized by its three radial engines and the prominent dorsal hump. It was powered by three Alfa Romeo 126 radial engines, each under a circular cowling. The shape of the cowlings in an injected kit is often inaccurate; the resin replacements have the correct outlines and finer detail.
Resin parts need more careful preparation: wash them in lukewarm soapy water to remove mold release residue, carefully separate them from the casting block and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate); protect your airways while sanding. Check the fit against the fuselage and the nacelles before gluing, then spray the base color and pick out the panel lines with a fine flowing wash.
The part is supplied as a resin accessory, unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
