The Supermarine Spitfire was a British single-seat fighter with a distinctive elliptical wing and one of the best-known aircraft of the Second World War. To extend its range on escort and ferry flights it carried a jettisonable external tank under the fuselage, which the pilot dropped once the fuel was used up. Adding this tank gives a finished model a period, operationally faithful look.
Resin parts call for more careful work than plastic: first wash them free of mold release residue, separate them carefully from the casting block and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue. Check the smooth surface of the tank before painting and sand it lightly if needed, then apply a primer. Protect your airways while sanding.
