About product

Quickboost fishtail exhausts for the Spitfire Mk. IX (1:72)

A resin detail accessory of the Quickboost brand, made by Aires, intended to refine the plastic kit of the British Supermarine Spitfire Mk. IX fighter in 1:72 scale. The set replaces the plastic exhausts with finely cast stubs of the flat type known as fishtail, with faithfully marked outlets.

The real subject

The Spitfire Mk. IX was one of the most widely built versions of this fighter, powered by the V12 Merlin engine. Various types of exhaust stub were used, among them a round section and the flat type known as fishtail; this set matches the fishtail configuration.

Usage tips

Wash the mold release agent off the parts, separate them from the casting blocks and glue them on with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). The outlets can be brought out with a dark shade and a fine patina of exhaust gases.

Who it is for

  • For modelers who build a Spitfire Mk. IX with fishtail exhausts.
  • For builders with experience of resin accessories.

This is an accessory for a kit, not an aircraft model. The kit itself is not included in the package.
