A resin cockpit set for a model of the British Supermarine Spitfire Mk. V fighter in 1:72 scale from Aires. It is not an aircraft kit but an accessory for improving a plastic kit of the matching type. The set replaces the simplified cockpit from the box with precisely cast parts carrying fine relief: the cockpit tub, the instrument panel, the seat, the control levers and the side panels.
The Spitfire Mk. V was the most numerously built version of the famous British fighter of the Second World War. It was powered by the Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 and carried its armament in the wing. It served on a number of fronts in the first half of the war and was built with differently reworked wingtips according to the kind of operation.
First wash the parts to remove any mold release agent, separate them carefully from the casting blocks and dry-fit them; depending on the particular kit the fuselage walls may need slight reworking. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate) and protect your airways while sanding resin. The fine relief comes out once painted with an airbrush and brought up with a wash.
This is a resin accessory for a kit, not an airplane model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
