Resin fishtail exhausts for the British Spitfire Mk.IX fighter in 1:72 scale from Quickboost. It is not an airplane model but an exact replacement part for more experienced modelers that will replace the plastic exhausts from the kit with more accurate castings with the correct flattened fishtail ends.
The Spitfire Mk.IX was powered by the Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 engine, and during production two main types of exhaust stub were used on it — the earlier round ones and the newer flattened fishtail type, which slightly increased the thrust of the exhaust gases. This set brings the fishtail variant. It is worth checking the choice of type against the particular aircraft you are building. The part is meant to refine an existing Spitfire model in the same scale.
First wash the resin parts in lukewarm soapy water to remove mold release residue from the mold. Cut off the casting blocks with a sharp knife or a fine saw and clean up the surfaces; protect your airways while sanding resin. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate) — ordinary plastic cement does not hold on resin. Repaint the exhausts in burnt metal shades and bring them out with soot deposits.
It is supplied as an unpainted resin accessory for completing a model. Glue, paints and the model itself are not included in the package.
