This set from Eduard replaces the main landing gear legs for 1:72 models of the Spitfire Mk.IX with accurate bronze castings. The metal gives markedly higher strength than plastic and safely carries the weight of a finished model. Resin fairings complete the package. It is not an airplane model but an aftermarket accessory that refines and strengthens the landing gear.
The Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IX had a narrow retractable main landing gear, which on a scale model was prone to bending under the weight of the fuselage. The bronze legs solve that problem while faithfully keeping the slender shape of the real aircraft. Depending on the set, the landing gear can be built with or without the scissor links.
Degrease the bronze parts and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate); a two-part adhesive can also be used for a stronger joint. Wash the mold release agent off the resin fairings and separate them from the casting blocks. Prime the metal before painting so that the paint holds well. Protect your airways while sanding.
The set is an accessory, not a model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
