The plastic kit 1:72 Sturmgeschütz 38(t) from UM captures the German light assault gun built on the chassis of the 38(t) tank.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of a German light assault gun derived from the chassis of the 38(t) tank, in 1:72 scale. UM has long devoted itself to this very family of vehicles, and a whole range of related variants follows on from it. The number of parts, the contents of the box and the choice of markings are given on the box and in the instructions. The particular armament of this version is not specified in the name, so with borderline variants check which one it is.
The chassis of the Czechoslovak-designed 38(t) tank became the basis during the Second World War for a whole series of German vehicles — reconnaissance, antitank and assault guns alike. It was light, reliable and well sorted in production, which made it a suitable platform for conversions at a time when the capacity for heavier chassis was used up. Vehicles built on this basis had a low silhouette and limited weight, at the cost of thinner armor and a cramped fighting compartment.
Assemble and paint the running gear before you close the hull up — once it is glued, the road wheels and tracks are hard to reach. Try the parts dry; with the small parts in this scale, tweezers and thin cement applied with a brush will help. Lay the base coat on in thin layers so that the engraved detail is not lost. Leave the weathering to the end: a dark wash into the recesses, dry brushing on the edges and pigments on the running gear for mud and dust effects. In 1:72 scale less is more — heavy weathering visually swamps a small model.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
