An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from the manufacturer UM. The real subject is the German self-propelled assault gun Sturmpanzer IV. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Sturmpanzer IV is an assault gun built on the chassis of the Panzer IV medium tank. Instead of a rotating turret it carries a closed armored superstructure with a short howitzer of 15 cm caliber, intended for destroying fortified firing positions and built-up areas by direct fire. It came into service from 1943 and in the course of production it went through several production series, which differ in the shape of the superstructure, in the mounting of the weapon and in details of the running gear. The name does not state the particular production series that the kit captures, so check it against the instructions in the package before building.
In 1:72 scale it pays to finish the running gear first and to paint it before the hull is closed up and the side skirts are fitted. Separate the small parts with a sharp knife and glue them with liquid cement in a minimal amount, otherwise the details will be lost. Complete and paint the tracks separately. Apply the base shade over a primer and handle multicolor camouflage either with masking putty or with an airbrush freehand at low pressure. Pick out the details with a thin wash and build the dust effects with pigments from the bottom upwards. In a small scale keep the weathering finer than in 1:35, otherwise the model looks oversaturated.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
