A resin detail part with the refueling probe for the Soviet Sukhoi Su-24 Fencer tactical bomber in 1:72 scale from Quickboost. It is not an airplane model but an exactly cast accessory that adds a delicate nose probe for taking on fuel in flight to a model.
The Su-24 was a twin-engine attack aircraft with a variable-sweep wing and side-by-side crew seats, used for penetration strikes at low level. The modernized version received a retractable probe ahead of the cockpit for refueling in flight by the probe-and-drogue method. A thin tubular probe is hard to cast in plastic with enough delicacy, which is why a resin part with a crisp tip and the correct shape replaces it more faithfully.
Resin parts need more careful preparation: wash them in lukewarm soapy water to remove mold release residue, separate them from the casting block carefully and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate); protect your airways while sanding. Attach the delicate probe at the end of the build so that it does not get damaged while you handle the model, and paint it to match the overall scheme with a darker tip.
The part is supplied as a resin accessory, unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
