The second sheet of waterslide decals in 1:72 scale for models of the jet aircraft Supermarine Attacker. The contents do not overlap the first part of the series — it is a product in its own right with its own selection of markings, so the two parts can be bought independently or together. The package holds a decal sheet and instructions; a plastic model and paints are not part of it.
The Attacker came about at a time when designers were still learning to reconcile jet propulsion with operation from a deck. A straight wing, a tailwheel landing gear and a centrifugal compressor in the engine belonged to the first generation of solutions; shortly afterwards they were replaced by machines with a swept wing and a nosewheel. That is exactly why the Attacker looks unusual among the jets of its day and sits well in a display case beside both piston and later jet types. For a modeler, what matters most is the stance of the aircraft on the ground and the clean, smooth surfaces of the fuselage.
On smooth glossy models the preparation of the surface decides more than on camouflaged machines. Work from a coarser abrasive paper to a fine one and finally polish the area, so that no scratches appear under the finish. Lay the paint on in thin coats and leave an adequate pause between them; a heavy application wrinkles easily in glossy shades. Apply the decals one at a time, soak each one briefly and let it rest on a towel until it releases by itself. Smooth small lettering with a soft brush and no pressure. Once dry, go over the area with varnish so that the edges of the carrier film disappear. If you matte the model, bear in mind that with glossy naval schemes a very light semi-gloss matting is enough, otherwise the model loses its character.
The package holds only the decals. The model, paints and glue are not part of it.
