Pre-cut masks for painting the wheels of a pair of subjects: the sWS heavy half-track tractor and the Sd.Ah. 52 special trailer. This is not a kit or an extra part, but an aid that replaces painting the border between tire and rim by hand.
The sWS is a half-track vehicle, and for masking that is a fundamental difference both from an ordinary tank and from a cargo truck. At the front it has a steered axle with tires, at the rear a tracked chassis. On one model, then, two entirely different kinds of wheel stand side by side: large road tires with a visible rim and, with them, a row of road wheels of the tracked running gear on which a quite different area is painted. The front wheels are also steerable and tend to be turned to one side on a finished model, so they are seen from the side and from the front. The Sd.Ah. 52 is a two-wheeled special trailer which in German practice was used to transport an anti-aircraft weapon, and it usually stands right beside the vehicle, so its wheels are compared directly with the tractor. If the rubber shades on the two do not meet, it tells at first glance.
First unify the wheels and rims with the base color. Lay the mask on dry and check whether it covers the area on the casting exactly, and only then press it down. Spray thinly and preferably twice over. Lift the mask off shortly after the paint has dried. With the front wheels of the tractor it is worth thinking separately about the angle at which you finally glue them on, so the model looks natural.
The set is an accessory for painting. Paints, glue and the kit itself are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
