An injection-molded plastic kit of the legendary Soviet T-34/76 medium tank in 1:72 scale from the Russian brand Zvezda. Zvezda offers this range of small tanks as snap-fit, so the main parts can be joined without glue. The box holds the hull and turret parts, the running gear, the tracks and a decal sheet. It is a quickly built model of a classic tank, which suits tabletop games and small-scale dioramas as well.
The T-34 was the most significant Soviet medium tank of the Second World War and one of the most influential tanks of all. The T-34/76 version carried a 76 mm gun in its turret and became famous for the combination of sloped armor, wide tracks with good going across country and a reliable V-2 diesel engine. Its simple design made mass production in enormous numbers possible. The tank was deployed on the Eastern Front from 1941 until the end of the war, and in later upgrades for far longer.
Assemble the running gear with the wheels and the tracks first, and only then close the hull up. With snap-fit parts it still helps to touch the joints with liquid cement for plastic to be safe. Lay down a primer and spray Soviet protective green with an airbrush; depth comes from a dark wash in the recesses, edge highlighting and dust and mud pigments on the running gear. The small scale rewards fine rather than overdone weathering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
