An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet medium tank T-34/85 in the small 1:72 scale from Revell. The real subject

The T-34 is among the most important tanks of the Second World War — it became famous for the combination of sloped armor, wide tracks and a reliable diesel engine. The T-34/85 version appeared as an answer to the more heavily armed German tanks: it received a new, roomier three-man turret and a powerful 85mm gun, which greatly increased the combat value of the machine. It was used from 1944 until the end of the war and in enormous numbers it also served long afterwards in armies all over the world.

Building and painting tips

Use liquid cement for plastic applied with a brush, which wicks into the seams and does not clog the detail. Finish and paint the running gear and the lower hull before you close the tub. Apply the base coat with an airbrush over a primer and lighten the Soviet green slightly on the flat surfaces. The character of the tank only comes with washes in the recesses and dust or mud pigments on the tracks and the wheel arches.
