An injection-molded plastic kit of the twin-engined T-400 trainer in 1:72 scale, issued as a limited edition. Sova Model has long devoted itself to types that the big manufacturers pass over - business aircraft, seaplanes and special-purpose machines - and this model fits that line exactly. Reckon on short-run tooling, that is, on more careful preparation of the parts before gluing.
T-400 is the designation under which an aircraft derived from the civilian Beechcraft 400 series business jet serves with the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. It is used for advanced training of pilots of transport and multipurpose machines: work in a two-man crew, instrument flying and operation with a pair of JT15D series turbofan engines mounted on the sides of the rear fuselage are all practiced on it. The airframe keeps its civilian lines - a slender fuselage, a wing without tip tanks and a T-tail - and what sets it apart from the original business aircraft is above all its military markings and cabin equipment.
The engines at the rear of the fuselage move the center of gravity aft, so put weight into the nose before closing the fuselage up and check the balance dry. With short-run tooling, try the mating surfaces before every gluing step and reckon on filling the seams on the fuselage. Mask the cockpit glazing and the windows before spraying. The white, glossy finish of training machines is unforgiving of preparation - the areas must be smooth, spray thin layers and bring the gloss up only with the final clear varnish, under which the decals go.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
