An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from Kovozavody Prostejov, a Czech brand with its background in a long tradition of domestic model manufacture. The F.6 version is the last piston-engined variant of the Tempest line and differs from the earlier machines above all in modifications to the powerplant and the cooling, which were connected with service in a hot climate. The particular contents of the package, the number of parts and the number of marking schemes are stated on the packaging of the kit.
The Hawker Tempest came about as a development of the Typhoon with a new wing of thin laminar profile, which removed the problems of its predecessor at higher speeds. The version designated as the Mk.VI and after the postwar redesignation as the F.6 was tropicalized: it was given a reworked arrangement of radiators and oil coolers so that it could stand operation in desert conditions. The machine was robust, heavy and fast down low, with good stability in accurate gunnery. After the war these airplanes served in the Royal Air Force (RAF) above all in the Middle East, where jet types gradually replaced them.
A short-run kit calls for a more patient approach than mainstream production. Clean the parts of the remains of flash first and try all the main assemblies dry; on the fuselage and the wing it often pays off to adapt the mating surfaces by fine sanding. Glue with a thin capillary cement for polystyrene. Finish and paint the cockpit while still before closing the fuselage up. Lay down a primer before painting, with which you will at the same time check the quality of the seams. Painting with an airbrush from the darker tones to the lighter ones gives the surface depth; mask the canopy precisely, because the framing is the most conspicuous detail at this size. Under the decals lay on a gloss varnish compatible with the paint used, and once it is dry go back over it with matte.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
