Eduard 1:72 Tempest Mk. V - landing flaps is a single-subject photo-etched set. It replaces the plastic flaps with metal ones, which can be shown lowered on the model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched set from the manufacturer Eduard intended for a single task: to replace the landing flaps on a plastic model of the Hawker Tempest Mk. V fighter in 1:72 scale. It is not a model of the aircraft nor a full detail set but a narrowly aimed accessory. The basic kit has to be obtained separately; photo-etched sets tend to be cut for a particular model, so compare the shape of the parts with your own kit.
The Hawker Tempest Mk. V is a British single-engined fighter from the close of the Second World War, following on in development from the Typhoon type. It had a powerful engine and a fast profiled wing, whose high-lift devices are clearly noticeable on the underside.
On an ordinary kit the flaps are part of the wing molding, so only a suggested gap is visible. The metal set lets them be shown lowered, which is the position typical of an aircraft standing on the ground. The difference in the silhouette of the model is striking, and yet it is not a conversion but one clearly bounded intervention.
Allow for the plastic flaps having to be cut out of the wing, which is an irreversible step, so draw the cut out in advance. Cut with a new blade, clean the edges up with a file and glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. The metal parts are degreased before painting and sprayed with a base coat, otherwise the paint will not hold on smooth sheet. In 1:72 scale, work with tweezers.
The set is an accessory for building a plastic model, not a model in its own right. The basic kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
