An injection-molded plastic kit of the British Hawker Tempest fighter in the Mk.II (F.2) version in 1:72 scale from the Czech manufacturer Kovozavody Prostejov. The version with the radial engine represents the late and postwar service of this powerful aircraft. The box holds gray and clear plastic parts, a decal sheet and color instructions.
The Tempest Mk.II differed from the well-known Mk.V version in using an air-cooled Bristol Centaurus radial engine instead of the Napier Sabre H-block engine. It did not make it into the fighting of the Second World War, but it found use in postwar service, among other places overseas. It was one of the most powerful British piston fighters of its time, with a broad wing and a robust structure.
The smaller scale calls for thin cement for plastic and careful cleanup of the parts. Lay down a gloss coat before the decals; an airbrush and a primer are the way to go. Postwar aircraft often carried bare metal and plainly finished surfaces that give away every unevenness, so take care to fill the seams smoothly.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
