This injection-molded plastic kit captures the British fighter Hawker Tempest Mk.V. According to its name, this release is devoted to machines connected with the French fighter pilot Pierre Clostermann, who flew Tempests with the French units of the Royal Air Force at the end of the Second World War. The manufacturer is the Czech company Kovozavody Prostejov. The model is meant to be glued and painted.
The Tempest Mk.V was created by reworking an earlier type from the same manufacturer, mainly by changing the wing to a thinner section better suited to high speeds. It was powered by the powerful twenty-four-cylinder Napier Sabre H-24 engine, and the hallmark of the nose is the large radiator under the engine; the armament consisted of 20 mm cannons in the wing. The aircraft excelled in speed at low altitude, which determined its typical deployment. The machines of individual pilots often differed in personal markings and lettering, thanks to which they are easy to recognize to this day and are among the popular subjects in modeling. The particular markings are given in the instructions enclosed in the box.
Finish and paint the cockpit before joining the fuselage halves. Try the parts dry and fill and sand any gaps so that the panel lines are preserved. Mask the glazing and spray it first with the interior shade. Apply the camouflage with an airbrush and handle the boundaries between colors with free spraying or with masking putty held a little away from the surface. Apply the personal markings and lettering as decals over a gloss coat and work them in with a decal softener so that they bed into the engraving. Finally bring out the panel lines with a thin wash and unify the surface with a semi-matte coat.
