An injection-molded plastic kit of the British Hawker Tempest Mk. V fighter in 1:72 scale from the South Korean manufacturer Academy. The model has finely engraved panel and surface detail, a clear breakdown of parts and decals for several period machines. The kit is popular for its balance of detail and buildability and suits modelers with basic as well as more advanced experience.
The Hawker Tempest Mk. V was one of the fastest British piston fighters of the closing stages of the Second World War. It grew out of the Typhoon but received a new thinner wing and the powerful Napier Sabre engine. It excelled at low altitude, where it was used against ground targets, and it became famous for destroying German V-1 flying bombs. Czechoslovak and other Allied pilots flew it as well.
Finish and paint the cockpit before closing up the fuselage. Glue the parts with thin cement for plastic and sand the seams so that the parting lines on the large engine cowling disappear. Mask the glazing and glue it with canopy glue. For the British camouflage with invasion stripes an airbrush, masking and a light base are worth the effort. Apply the decals over a gloss clear coat and flatten the result as needed.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
