A single-engine turboprop machine with an inconspicuous civil silhouette and sensor equipment is an attractive and little usual subject beside classic fighters, and it will bring a pleasant change to a collection of modern aviation.
The U-28A is the military version of the Swiss turboprop aircraft Pilatus PC-12. The US Air Force uses it with units for special operations for reconnaissance, surveillance and the support of ground teams; the machine carries sensor and communication equipment, yet outwardly it differs from the civil Pilatus only in small things. The power comes from a reliable turboprop engine of the PT6A series.
With kits of smaller runs it pays to try every joint dry first and if need be sand the mating surfaces down. Mask the canopy glazing carefully; glue the small antennas and projections on only once the main finish is done. A uniform finish will be given life by a fine lightening of the centers of the panels and a discreet wash in the engraved lines; reconnaissance machines tend to be well kept, so go easy on the weathering.
