A New Ware set of painting masks at the BASIC grade for a model of the Lockheed U-2A Dragon Lady in 1:72 scale. These are masks for painting, not a model of the aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
It is not a kit but a set of cut painting masks of so-called kabuki paper for a model of the Lockheed U-2A high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft in 1:72 scale. The material is a thin Japanese paper with a fine adhesive: it follows curves well, does not let paint run under its edge and leaves no residue once peeled off. The BASIC grade is the basic extent in this manufacturer's range - sets marked with a higher grade tend to be more extensive.
The masks take the place of covering by hand with tape, which on glazing with narrow frames is long-winded and rarely comes out even. A pre-cut template holds the shape of the frame exactly to a particular kit, so the edges of the paint are crisp and symmetrical. On the U-2, with its long slender airframe and characteristic cockpit glazing, clean work on the cockpit shows at once.
Degrease the surface before sticking the masks on and let it dry completely. Lift the templates off the sheet with a sharp knife or tweezers and press them down with a toothpick, above all in the corners. Spray a thin coat of the color around the frame first - it seals the edge and any bleed will then be in the color of the frame rather than beneath it. Remove the masks as soon as the paint has set; once a heavy coat is fully cured there is a risk of the finish tearing away. Any adhesive residue can be wiped off with a damp cloth.
This is an accessory to a kit you have already bought, not a model in its own right. Neither paints nor a kit are included in the package.
