A turned metal pitot tube in 1:72 scale for US aircraft of the Second World War. A replacement for the plastic part from the kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The airspeed pressure sensor, known among modelers as the pitot tube, feeds the pressure of the oncoming air to the airspeed indicator. On the real aircraft it therefore projects from the leading edge of the wing or from the side of the nose into a flow the fuselage has not yet disturbed. On a model it is a conspicuous little thing: a thin tube on the silhouette that the viewer notices before many an interior detail.
It is a machined metal part, not a plastic molding. Metal takes a small diameter that an injection mold could not reach, and it does not bend out of true at the first touch. The intended use is general, as the name says: US aircraft of the Second World War in 1:72 scale. Which particular type the part is shaped for, and how many pieces the package holds, is stated in the manufacturer data sheet.
It suits builders who are bothered by oversized plastic tubes and who want finer and tougher detail on a model. The model, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
