The Polikarpov UTI-4 1:72 plastic kit from the Ukrainian manufacturer Amodel captures the two-seat training version of the Soviet I-16 fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the two-seat trainer Polikarpov UTI-4, derived from the I-16 fighter (type 15). It is a short-run kit from the Ukrainian manufacturer Amodel, which collectors of Soviet prewar and wartime hardware will appreciate. The build calls for a somewhat more careful approach than mainstream models.
The UTI-4 was the most widespread training version of the stubby Polikarpov I-16 fighter. It served to train pilots moving over to this machine, which was modern for its day but fairly demanding, with its short fuselage and retractable landing gear. Around 3400 were built and the aircraft stayed in service for much of the 1930s and 1940s.
Reckon with cleaning off the flash and dry-fitting the parts. Paint both cockpits before closing the fuselage up. The short rounded fuselage calls for patient filling and sanding of the joints. Green and silver shades suit the Soviet finish; a fine wash and dry pigments will bring out the panel lines and the fabric areas.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
