Unlike sets tied to one particular model, this is a universal part that will find use anywhere a pipe, a valve, a tank, a pump or an engine room appears. It is not a kit but an accessory for models and scenes already under construction.
A valve hand wheel is a shape that a small scale tests mercilessly. It consists of a thin rim, even thinner spokes and a central hub, and that is exactly what injection-molded plastic does not allow. Either the part is disproportionately thick, or a web is left between the spokes. Photo-etching solves both at once: the rim and the spokes have a thickness matching reality and the gaps are genuinely cut through, so you can see through the wheel. That is a detail even a layman notices.
The wheels suit military as well as civilian hardware, models of ships, industrial dioramas, tanks, filling stations, depots and railway scenes. A common use is also as a replacement for an unsuccessful plastic part straight from a kit, or to fill a place where the manufacturer did not suggest a wheel at all.
Cut the parts off with a scalpel, as nippers would deform the thin rim. With wheels whose spokes are dished in reality, the shape can be suggested by pressing them lightly over a soft surface with a wooden stick. It is glued with cyanoacrylate applied with a pin, or with the gel variant, which gives time to position them. Before painting, degrease the metal with alcohol and use a primer. A wash into the space between the spokes and a gentle rub of the edges with metallic pigment will turn a wheel into a credible, used item.
