The real subject

The Panzer IV accompanied the German army through the whole war and its individual versions differ from one another above all in armament. The Ausf. F version carried a short 7.5cm gun 24 calibers long, that is a weapon intended mainly for the support of infantry. The Ausf. F2 was given a long barrel of the same caliber 43 calibers long with a muzzle brake, and from a support tank there became a machine capable of fighting armored hardware. The Ausf. G followed on from this change and brought further modifications of the armor and the equipment. On a model it is a difference visible at first glance, so it is always good to tie the markings to the right version.

This set is the sixth part of the series devoted to the machines of the SS Wiking division and covers the three versions mentioned. The designs are printed for 1:72 scale.

Application and painting

The decals are transferred in the wet way. Trim the design off tight to the print, dip it briefly in lukewarm water and let it rest until it releases from the backing paper. Prepare the base with gloss varnish, otherwise a white veil will be left around the design. On the side plates and busy places a softener helps; the finished model is evened out with a matte varnish.

Who it is for

The sheet suits modelers who build German armored hardware in a small scale and want to set the individual versions of the Panzer IV apart by their markings as well. The sheet of decals is supplied on its own; the model, the paints and the glue do not belong with it, unless stated otherwise.
