A brown bear in 1:72 scale from Offset Scale Models is an animal figure for forest and mountain dioramas.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is an animal figure, not a kit of equipment. It belongs to a line of small wild and farm animals which the maker keeps in several scales. The number of pieces in the package, the pose of the figure, the material and the dimensions are stated on the box. The figure is meant for forest, mountain and northern scenes, where it works as a striking element of action — the viewer notices it sooner than most of the other details.
The brown bear is the largest European beast of prey and inhabits wooded and mountain areas from central Europe through the north of the continent as far as Siberia. On a diorama it can be used at forest tracks, clearings, abandoned buildings or as a contrast to civilian or military equipment parked in remote countryside. It is a massive animal, so even in 1:72 scale the figure has a comprehensible outline and does not disappear in a scene.
Cut the figure from the casting block or the print supports with a sharp cutter, sand the trace and wash it in lukewarm water with dish soap before painting. Apply a thin base coat. Build the coat by layering: a darker brown base, a brown-black wash in the recesses and a lighter dry brush on the back, the shoulders and the head — it is precisely the difference between the dark base and the lighter tips of the fur that makes the pelt alive. Darken the muzzle and the claws and only suggest the eyes. Finish the surface with a matte clear coat; a shiny coat comes across as artificial. A little dust or mud on the paws will tie the figure to the base.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
