The Brengun 1:72 plastic kit of the Soviet fighter Yakovlev Yak-1 is aimed at captured machines that flew in foreign markings.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet fighter Yakovlev Yak-1 in 1:72 scale, in the version corresponding to the 1942 rendering. The box is aimed at machines that fell into enemy hands, were repaired, remarked and then tested or demonstrated. Besides the plastic parts the set contains small photo-etched parts and decals.
The Yak-1 was a Soviet single-engined fighter from the beginning of the 1940s with a mixed structure: a welded steel fuselage frame with fabric and plywood covering, and a mainly wooden wing. It was powered by a liquid-cooled Klimov V engine, and the armament consisted of a 20 mm cannon firing through the axis of the reduction gear and machine guns. The aircraft was simple to produce and to maintain and became the basis of a whole successful development series. Captured and repaired examples were used by enemy trials and training units — they flew in foreign insignia and often with pronounced recognition stripes, so that they were not mistaken for the real thing.
Finish the cockpit before you close the fuselage; on Soviet fighters the canopy is nicely transparent and the interior is visible. The wooden and fabric surfaces of the real subject have no metallic sheen, so choose a semi-matte to matte surface and shade the wear sparingly — the finish flakes differently on wooden covering than on duralumin. Degrease the small photo-etched parts before painting and spray them with a primer for metal. Under the decals, apply a gloss compatible with the paint used and once dry cover them with matte clear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
