Resin wheels for the Yakovlev Yak-17 in 1:72 scale from Armory replace the small plastic parts on which detail is lost most of all in a small scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A small resin set for building a model of the Yak-17 jet aircraft in 1:72 scale. It is not a model or a kit but a replacement for the landing gear wheels. It is precisely in this scale that the swap makes the most sense: the wheel measures only a few millimeters and injection-molded plastic can carry only a fraction of the detail on it, whereas a casting captures even the layout of the rim and the hub.
The Yak-17 was a Soviet jet fighter of the late 1940s, following on in its design from the earlier Yak-15. Compared with it, it got a nosewheel, so the aircraft stood level and handling it on the ground was easier. It was built in a two-seat trainer form as well and belonged to the first generation of jet equipment, which still drew on the shapes of piston fighters.
Prepare the small castings over a tray with a rim, so that the wheel does not get away from you across the table. Cut the casting block with a fine-toothed saw, not with nippers. After washing off the mold release agent, a thin coat of primer from a spray can is enough. In 1:72 scale the rim does not have to be masked; it is often quicker to paint the whole wheel dark gray and to add the rim with a fine-tipped brush. The wheel is bonded with super glue; to true up its position, use the gel version, which gives you a few seconds more.
These are replacement parts for building a model. The package does not contain paints, glue or the kit itself.
