About product

Reskit 1:72 wheels for the Yak-38 Forger (weighted)

A replacement wheel set for models of the Soviet carrier-borne Yak-38 in 1:72 scale. It is a detail accessory that replaces the plastic wheels from the box. The tires carry a weighted effect, that is, a flattening where they meet the ground.

The real subject

The Yak-38, NATO reporting name Forger, was a Soviet carrier-borne fighter with vertical takeoff and landing, operated from light aircraft carriers. Accurately made wheels with a realistic tread lift the look of a finished model, especially around the landing gear.

Usage tips

First wash any mold release agent off the parts, separate the sprue gates and clean up the surfaces with a fine file. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Position the flattened part of the tire pointing straight down. Paint the tires matte dark gray and the hubs to match the real subject.

Who it is for

  • Builders of Yak-38 models in 1:72 scale
  • Modelers who want realistic weighted landing gear
  • More experienced modelers used to working with resin

The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
