A short-run injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from the Ukrainian manufacturer UM (Unimodel). The package contains molded plastic and a photo-etched fret for the fine detail; it is a standalone artillery model, not a vehicle. The short-run tooling means more sensitive cleaning up of the parts and more careful fitting, but the result is a small yet characteristic weapon for dioramas and for the display case alike.
The ZiS-2 was a Soviet 57 mm anti-tank gun with a long barrel and a high muzzle velocity, thanks to which it was one of the most effective weapons of its caliber against armor. It entered service as early as 1941, returned in 1943 after a break in production and accompanied the infantry and the tank units until the end of the war. The low silhouette and the folding split trail of the carriage are typical of this weapon.
First clean the flash off the parts, which is usual with short-run tooling, and dry-fit the carriage. Use thin modeling cement on the plastic and glue the photo-etched pieces with cyanoacrylate. After spraying the base protective green, bring the metal and the wooden parts to life with a wash and fine pigments for a dusty and muddy tone; the barrel and the shield will take a light edge highlight.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
