An injection-molded plastic kit of the Czech Zlin Z-42M trainer in 1:72 scale from Hobby Boss. It is a small model with a low parts count and an easy build, with a clear canopy part and a decal sheet for the marking options. Thanks to the undemanding assembly it suits beginners as well and works as a quick addition to a collection of civil and training aircraft.
The Zlin Z-42 is a single-engined two-seat training and sport aircraft of Czechoslovak design which first flew in 1967. It served for basic and advanced training and for sport flying, and was distinguished by good handling and a robust all-metal structure. The Z-42M version received a modified powerplant and became a widespread machine in flying clubs and military training centers.
On a small, simple model, deburr the parts and dry-fit the fuselage and the wings. Bond the joints with liquid cement for plastic, mask the small canopy and paint it with an airbrush or a brush. Civil and flying club machines are usually brightly finished with bold color stripes and registration marks, which come out best on a smooth, gloss surface.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
