3D printed set - XANADU plants

A set of 3D printed plants from Green Stuff World for low vegetation on a diorama. The designation XANADU in the name is the name of the plant the set works with and is given as the manufacturer uses it. It is greenery with striking deeply lobed leaves, the kind tied in nature to a warm, humid setting.

How it differs from other vegetation

Neither loose foliage nor fine leaves can do a large leaf. And yet it is precisely leaf size that tells a tropical scene from a central European one. A printed plant with a lobed leaf gives a diorama an unmistakable climate: jungle, an oasis, an overgrown glasshouse, a garden in a warm zone, or an interior with houseplants in a modern scene. At the same time it works at the level that otherwise stays empty, that is between the ground layer and the crowns of trees.

How it is layered

• Terrain and the ground layer first, and only then the plants set into the finished ground.
• Put plants with a large leaf toward the front and into the foreground of a composition; that is where their shape tells.
• Tilt and turn the leaves variously; a symmetrical arrangement gives the set away.
• Add grass, granulate or litter around the foot, so that the transition to the ground is not sharp.
• A base coat unifies the shade of the plants with the scenery around them.

For modelers who build tropical and jungle dioramas, modern civil scenes with indoor greenery, or bases under figures where a plant should be recognizable and not just a green blob.
