The figure 75mm Norman Knight from the Black Dog brand takes on the Norman knight, that is, the mounted class that held military superiority in the 11th century.

Black Dog lists a free-standing figure under this name, not a kit of a machine. The subject is the mounted elite of the 11th and 12th centuries, who differed from the common fighter in training, in the horse and in the cost of their equipment.
The Latin word miles denoted an armed man who served a lord in return for land and a share in the yield. Norman horsemen won their reputation at the Battle of Hastings in 1066, where they worked against a shield wall of infantry, and their descendants later marched into southern Italy and the Levant. A complete harness for such a man cost as much as a smaller farm, which is why it was handed down from father to son and carefully repaired.
Before painting it pays to even out the surface with an undercoat; only on that will thin layers of paint hold evenly. The larger size allows smooth transitions, so mix the shades and apply them in layers rather than relying on a single tone. Leave the heraldic fields for last; they are easier to draw on an undercoat that is already finished. Look at the figure at arm's length while you work, because close up it is easy to overdo the contrast, which then looks harsh in a display case.
The final look remains entirely up to you; the manufacturer supplies the figure to be worked up by its owner.
