Hexagonal imitations of rivets and bolts from the Japanese label Top Studio, 0.8 mm in diameter, in a golden brass finish. These are supplementary detail parts, not a model kit. They are fitted to a model that is already being built, in places where the molded plastic detail looks flat. The number in the name is the diameter of the rivet head, not the scale of the model.
Eight tenths of a millimeter is already among the heavier sizes in a range that runs from 0.5 to 1.0 mm. Rivets of this size suit places where the joints are structurally loaded and therefore visually more massive as well: the joints of a tube frame, the brackets and mounts of a radiator, the attachment of bumpers, spoilers and wheel arch covers. In the larger automotive scales they are clear even in a photograph taken from a distance.
The range is offered in three versions, A, B and C, which differ in the shape of the head. Version A is available in every size exclusively in a brass finish, while B and C also come in silver. On a single model it pays to stay with one version so that the fasteners look consistent.
At this size it pays to mark out the rivet spacing beforehand or to lay it out with a template made of thin sheet or paper tape. Irregular spacing shows up on a finished model more than the shape of the head itself. Pre-drill the hole with a micro drill and keep the rivets stuck into a piece of modeling wax or adhesive tape so that you have them to hand. Fix them with a tiny drop of super glue applied with a wire, not straight from the bottle.
