A collector figure kit in a size of 75 mm from the production of Vertigo miniatures. The subject is, as the name says, the officers of the Russian general staff from the period of the First World War. This is not a finished painted model: the figure is intended for assembly and for painting by you, which is usual with collector figures of this class.
The size of 75 mm is among the established collector formats and lies between the small figures for models of vehicles and large busts. Compared with the scales common on dioramas it gives markedly more surface for the face, the hands, the uniform and small accessories, so techniques come into play that can hardly be used at small sizes, such as smooth transitions, glazing, work with the temperature of shadows or fine accenting of the folds of cloth. Castings in this category tend to be of resin, so reckon with preparing the parts before building.
First wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent and let them dry completely, as remains of mold release agent otherwise prevent the primer from adhering. Cut the pour gates and any flash off with a fine saw or a sharp scalpel and sand the surfaces; when sanding resin, work wet and protect your breathing. Glue the joints with cyanoacrylate glue, or with two-part epoxy on larger areas; cement for plastic models does not work here. Apply a thin primer from a spray can or an airbrush before painting. For skin and for a uniform, acrylics applied with a brush in many thin coats have proved themselves, while oil paints serve well for soft transitions. Finish the completed figure on a base, which gives it scale and acts as a frame.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
