An injection-molded plastic model of the American M4A2 Sherman medium tank in the small 1:100 scale from Zvezda. It is a quick snap-fit kit whose parts click together, so gluing is not needed. The model has a low part count and goes together quickly, yet it keeps the shape of the hull, the turret and the running gear readable. Thanks to the small scale it is popular above all with players of tabletop wargames and as an addition to dioramas.
The M4 Sherman was the most widespread American medium tank of the Second World War, committed by the American and Allied armies on all the main fronts. The M4A2 version was marked by a pair of diesel engines; it was delivered in large numbers to the Allies, among them the Soviet Union under the Lend-Lease program. Its typical armament was a 75mm gun complemented by machine guns. The Sherman became famous for its reliability, easy maintenance and suitability for mass production.
Thanks to the snap-fit design you can build the model without glue; for stronger joints you can still use a small amount of modeling cement for plastic. In this small scale a simple base color shows to advantage, complemented by a drybrush to bring out the edges and by a fine wash and dust pigments for the effect of a dusty and muddy vehicle. It pays to apply a thin primer before painting.
