Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the British jet bomber in 1:144 scale. The Vulcan is one of those aircraft that look extraordinarily striking even scaled down: the enormous delta wing gives it a silhouette that cannot be mistaken. At the same time, 1:144 scale lets you build a large bomber so that it really fits into an ordinary display case. It is made by Trumpeter.
The Avro Vulcan was one of the three British strategic bombers of the so-called V-force. The B.2 version differed from the first series chiefly in its larger wing with a kinked leading edge, more powerful Olympus jet engines and a reworked electrical system. Originally it was a carrier of nuclear weapons operating at high altitude; after capable anti-aircraft defenses appeared, the crews switched to low-level flight. Its best known combat use came in 1982, when Royal Air Force Vulcan B.2s flew extraordinarily long bombing missions over the South Atlantic.
On a delta wing it pays to spend time on gluing the halves straight and on the wing-to-fuselage joint: any waviness shows at once over a large area. Sand the surface with fine paper before painting. Both the classic British camouflage and the later gray finish come out best applied with an airbrush in thin coats, and the panel lines can then be accentuated with a thin wash. Prepare a gloss base under the decals.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
