ICM 1:16 IDF K-9 unit Oketz is a plastic figure kit of a member of the Israeli dog-handling unit with his service dog. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set holds an injection-molded plastic figure of a handler of the Israeli dog unit Oketz and a figure of his service dog. 1:16 is one of the large figure scales, and the modeling of the face, the hands and the individual items of equipment comes into its own in it, which makes the figure a rewarding subject to paint. The maker is ICM, a Ukrainian brand known for injection-molded kits and figures. A small decal sheet is included in the package.
Oketz is the dog-handling unit of the Israel Defense Forces, whose members work with specially trained dogs. The figure captures a handler in modern field equipment with a ballistic vest and a helmet, and a dog in a working harness. The rendering matches the unit's contemporary equipment rather than one specific documented situation.
Separate the parts from the sprues with side nippers and sand the parting lines with fine abrasive paper or a file; in a large scale every unworked seam shows. It is glued with ordinary liquid cement for polystyrene. Before painting, spray the figure with primer, which evens the surface out and reveals any remaining flaws. The face and hands are best modeled by building up layers of acrylic paint or with oil glazes, and the dog's coat comes to life with a dry brush in two or three shades. Bring out the equipment and the folds of the cloth with a fine wash, and lighten the edges with a paler tone instead.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
