An injection-molded plastic kit of the Italian Fiat CR.42 Falco fighter biplane in 1:32 scale from ICM. The large scale allows rich rendering of the surface and the details; it is a good model intended for display. The box contains decals for finishing the aircraft.
The Fiat CR.42 Falco was one of the last fighter biplanes used in combat. Although by the time it appeared it already represented a design on the way out, it excelled in agility and sturdiness and the Regia Aeronautica deployed it on a number of fronts of the Second World War. It also served with other operators and became a symbol of the twilight of the biplane era.
With a biplane it helps to build and paint the fuselage and the wings first and only then deal with the struts and the bracing wires; using a jig makes accurate setting of the upper wing easier. Liquid cement for plastic holds thin joints. A primer reveals imperfections; the typical Italian camouflage comes out well once a wash has been run into the engraved lines.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
