A detailed injection-molded plastic kit of the supersonic fighter Lockheed F-104 Starfighter in the G/S version in 1:32 scale from Italeri. The upgraded edition in the RF (photo-reconnaissance) fit contains, among other things, a reconnaissance pod, finely engraved surface texture, a well-worked cockpit interior and photo-etched parts. The box offers decals for several versions. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The F-104 Starfighter was a slender supersonic aircraft with very thin, short wings, and it was known for its shape and its performance. The G and S versions served with a number of European air forces as multirole machines. In the photo-reconnaissance role it carried a pod with reconnaissance equipment, which added photographic coverage to the machine's capabilities. The combination of high speed and a simple airframe made it a characteristic type of the Cold War era.
Because of the large 1:32 scale, give attention to the cockpit interior and the reconnaissance pod, which are clearly visible. Glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Metal surfaces can be handled with metallic paints, which should be stirred thoroughly and applied to a smooth base at the end. Mask the glazing while painting and pick out the panel lines with a subtle wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
