Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the legendary German jet fighter Messerschmitt Me 262 A-1a in 1:32 scale from Trumpeter. The special feature of this clear edition is transparent airframe parts that let you see the internal structure and mechanisms of the finished model — suited to a striking display that shows off the internal structure in a case. Per the box art, the package includes metal landing gear legs, a photo-etched part, and clear film parts. The model offers several color schemes.
The Messerschmitt Me 262 was the world's first operationally deployed jet fighter and one of the technically most advanced aircraft of its time. It was powered by a pair of jet engines slung under the wings and reached exceptional speeds for its era. The A-1a Schwalbe version was the fighter variant deployed at the end of the Second World War. Despite its potential, the aircraft suffered from unreliable engines and was deployed too late to change the course of the war.
Handle the clear parts carefully — glue them with cement suited to clear plastics so they do not haze, and protect them from fingerprints and scratches. The metal landing gear legs are welcome for strength at this large scale. If you plan to leave part of the airframe transparent, think ahead about painting the internal structure that will show through. Typical late-war German camouflage schemes stand out well with an airbrush; a fine wash highlights panels and covers.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
