An injection-molded plastic kit of the Russian single-seat multirole MiG-29M from Trumpeter. The 1:32 scale means a large model: it is about 543 mm long and 355 mm in span. The kit has over eight hundred parts, so it is not a job for one evening.
The MiG-29M is a development of the well-known twin-engine aircraft with a high-set wing and twin fins. It is powered by two turbofan engines. Compared with the older machines it received a modified fuselage spine with a greater fuel capacity, a reworked cockpit with screen instruments and a wider choice of armament for work against ground targets. The auxiliary dorsal intakes that the older versions had for operating from unpaved surfaces also disappeared.
Follow the instructions section by section and do not rush the gluing of the fuselage until the internal fittings and the air intake ducts are finished. On a model of this size it pays to paint by subassemblies, because many places can no longer be reached once they are glued. Bond the photo-etched parts with super glue onto a degreased surface and give them a primer before painting. Reckon with the finished model needing a lot of room on a shelf.
For the experienced modeler who wants one striking piece instead of five small ones and does not mind a longer build. The number of parts and the size of the model allow the cockpit and other spaces to be opened up and the detail shown off.
The package contains plastic and clear parts, decals and instructions. Paints, glue and varnishes are not included, unless stated otherwise.
