A Revell Classics starter set with a plastic kit of the six-wheeled Tyrrell P34 Formula One car in 1:32 scale. Besides the kit it also contains paints.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Tyrrell P34 is the best known six-wheeled Formula One car. Instead of a pair of front wheels it received four smaller ones, so that the designers could reduce the frontal area of the car and at the same time increase the contact area of the tires with the track. So that the driver could see the small front wheels at all, the cockpit received transparent panels in its sides. The car raced in the 1976 and 1977 seasons and was powered by a Ford Cosworth DFV eight-cylinder engine. In 1976 the team won the Swedish Grand Prix with it, which remained the only victory of a six-wheeler in the world championship.
It is a starter set: besides the plastic kit of the car in 1:32 scale a set of paints is included, so building can begin without further shopping. The exact composition of the package and the recommended shades are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The front axle calls for the most attention. Before the glue sets, stand the car on a flat surface and check that all four front wheels touch down and stand parallel; on a six-wheeler every deviation shows at first glance. Spray or brush the body in thin coats and let them dry thoroughly, otherwise a saturated color will curdle into blotches. Apply any decals only onto dry paint.
The 1:32 scale gives a model that does not take up a whole shelf, and combining the kit with paints makes the set a rewarding gift as well as a way into building for a less experienced modeler. Tools, glue and thinner are not included, unless stated otherwise.
