2 cm Flak 38 – a set of accessories in 1:35 scale from the brand Royal Model aims at the German 20 mm light anti-aircraft weapon that accompanied soldiers on every front. The weapon itself is obtained separately. Target kit: Tamiya.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of accessories from Royal Model for one of the most widespread German weapons of the Second World War. It concentrates on the fine parts of the mount and the mechanism, which are hard to cast in plastic and which on a finished model attract the eye most. The gun is not included in the package. The set is intended for the Tamiya kit.
The 20 mm Flak 38 came about by reworking the older Flak 30 with the aim of raising the rate of fire, which the earlier design could not keep up. New feeding and a modified breech brought a noticeably higher rate without the weapon growing appreciably larger. It was transported on a two-wheeled trailer, from which it was taken down and set up on a tripod mount with all-round traverse. Besides the anti-aircraft role it was routinely used against ground targets and lightly armored vehicles as well. Installations on trucks, half-tracks and tanks made it one of the most frequently seen weapons of all, from North Africa to the Eastern Front.
The weapon has many narrow sections, so cut the parts off only right before seating them and keep a dish at hand so that they do not jump away. Leave the mount movable as long as possible, so that you can reach every surface. The metal parts of the barrel and the breech come out well if you lightly polish them with graphite after painting.
It is supplied without the weapon, without paints and without modeling chemicals.
