This combination of resin castings and photo-etched frets from the Italian brand Royal Model is among the most comprehensive accessories that can be obtained for this British tank destroyer. It affects the appearance of the hull, the turret and the external equipment and replaces the elements that do not fit into an injection mold.
The British took over the American chassis of the M10 tank destroyer and rearmed it with a 17-pounder gun. The long barrel with its pronounced counterweight gave the vehicle an unmistakable silhouette and from Normandy in 1944 made it one of the few Allied means that could deal with the front armor of the heavy German types. The open roof of the turret exposed the crew to artillery splinters, though, so the crews kept under cover and fired from concealment. The Achilles stayed in the armament of British and Allied anti-tank regiments to the end of the war.
First wash the castings in lukewarm water with detergent, so that the mold release agent from the mold disappears. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and always protect your breathing when sanding: resin dust does not belong in the lungs. You will straighten twisted thin parts by dipping them briefly in hot water. Join both metal and resin with cyanoacrylate glue and unify the whole with a primer, otherwise the shade will diverge on the different materials.
The plastic base of the vehicle is not part of the delivery.
