A ready-made diorama base with a column in 1:35 scale. It will serve as groundwork under a model of hardware or under a figure; all it needs is painting.

The base is a finished piece of terrain with relief and with a vertical column that gives the scene height. With dioramas that matters more than it seems: a horizontal surface on its own is dull, whereas a single vertical element gives the scene a frame, scale and a place the eye returns to.
The base is in 1:35 scale, that is the one in which most models of ground hardware and figures come out. You stand a single model on it and you have a finished small scene without having to build terrain from the ground up. The column also hides the transition between the scene and the surroundings of the display case.
Wash the surface, degrease it and go over it with a primer. Spray both the column and the terrain with a lighter shade, then work a darker wash into the gaps and hollows so that the relief separates. Go over the edges and the raised places with a dry brush. At the foot of the column and along the edges of the terrain add dust pigments, because that is where the grime collects most. Try the position of the model dry before you glue anything.
The base is for modelers who want to display a finished model in a setting, and for those who are only just getting to grips with dioramas. The box holds the base only; the model, figures, vegetation, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
