This set from the Italian maker Royal Model brings fine etched metal and resin parts for refining a model of the DUKW amphibious truck in 1:35 scale. It is the follow-on second part of a kit upgrade, not a model in its own right. The parts are installed on an already built plastic kit and replace or complete the coarser factory elements with thin, scale-faithful detail.
The DUKW, nicknamed the Duck, was an American six-wheeled amphibious truck derived from a GMC chassis. During the Second World War it served to land supplies and men from ships directly onto the shore and it became a symbol of the Allied landing operations. It is precisely the quantity of levers, brackets, grilles and small fittings that makes this vehicle a rewarding object for additional refinement.
Before gluing, wash the resin parts clean of the remains of mold release agent and cut off the casting blocks. Use cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) for the etched metal and the resin alike. Shape the fine etched parts precisely according to the enclosed instructions, and make the bends over the edge of a ruler. Before painting, apply a primer, which will unify the metal, the resin and the plastic.
This is an additional detail set, not a complete model. The base kit, glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
