A plastic kit of the French light tank FCM 36 in 1:35 scale from the Ukrainian company ICM. It is a classic injection-molded kit meant for gluing and painting, not a finished model. The contents of the package, the number of parts and the choice of decal schemes are given in the instructions supplied.
The FCM 36 was a French light infantry support tank of the second half of the 1930s. It differed strikingly in shape from contemporary French light tanks: both the hull and the turret were welded and made up of markedly sloped planes, while competing designs used castings. The second design peculiarity was a diesel engine, which was unusual in tanks at the time and brought both lower consumption and less risk of fire. The armament was a short 37 mm gun with a machine gun, and the crew was two men. The production run remained small and the machines served with French armored units at the start of the 1940s.
The faceting of the hull is the main visual theme of the FCM 36, and the edges of the planes deserve careful cleaning of the seams and sanding so that they stay sharp. Paint the running gear and the inner sides of the fenders before you close the hull up; once it is assembled you cannot reach them. Use a thin cement for plastic applied with a brush into the seam. Before painting, apply a primer, which evens the surface out and reveals any remaining scratches. Spray the base shade with an airbrush and then thinned coats toward the centers of the planes for modulation. The broken edges are brought out well by a dry brush, and a wash runs into the recesses and around the rivets. A dusty patina on the lower part of the hull and on the running gear is made with pigments.
